Wear your Weaving: Sew a Simple Jacket with your Handwoven Fabric

  • Convergence 2026 500 Canal Street New Orleans, LA, 70130 United States (map)

In this 2-day workshop hosted by Andrea Alexander and Suzanne Person, students will create a simple, boxy jacket inspired by historical garments, designed to showcase handwoven fabric! Using basic arithmetic and simple sewn seams, participants will construct a custom-fit piece that blends timeless design with modern practicality. This session will guide weavers through the process, making garment creation approachable and rewarding. The jacket's straightforward structure makes it an ideal project for first-time garment makers.

This event is taking place at Convergence, a fiber arts conference hosted by the Handweavers Guild of America’s. It is taking place in New Orleans, Louisiana from August 12-16th, 2026.
